Waking Gods

Series: The Themis Files

Genre: science fiction

Rating: ★★★★★

Years after the team discovers the giant robot and names her “Themis,” a new robot shows up with no explanation. The world reacts in an uproar. What does this mean? Are the extraterrestrials coming back to collect the robot they left behind, or are they here to destroy humanity? With limited technology and understanding of other sentient life, Dr. Rose Franklin and the team have to race against the clock to discover what the aliens want and how to stop them.

After finishing Sleeping Giants there was no way I was going to wait to read the next book! And the next part of the story definitely lived up to the first!

This novel is written in the same form as the first, with personal journal entries, interviews, and official documents. You may think it could be hard to connect to the characters since it’s pretty much all dialogue, but I did not face this problem at all. I love these characters and I loved seeing them become a family.

This book was a bit slower in the beginning, probably because the novelty of finding an alien robot had worn off, but it really picked up the pace and was action packed. By the time I was halfway through, I did not want to stop.

It’s very common for the second book of a series to be a bit of a disappointment; however, Waking Gods does not fall into the the trap of a bad second book. It was action packed and had a great hook, just as Sleeping Giants. The characterization is even better and the cliffhanger at the end just keeps you wanting more.

If you haven’t started this series yet, you should absolutely do so now! Waking Gods comes out April 4th, 2017 and you don’t want to miss it!

Happy Reading,
